Asin's next film in Bollywood

Asin’s Bollywood career is not over yet as her detractors would want to believe. The southern beauty who had started accepting films again in Tamil is said to have landed in a big Bollywood film opposite Salman Khan again.

The film is the remake of Telugu hit 'Ready'. The big news here is Asin edged out Deepika Padukone to get this film to be directed by Anees Bazmee.

Salman and Asin continued to be good friends even after their earlier film together ‘London Dreams’ bombed. Sources say that it was Salman Khan who recommended Asin for the project.

'Ready' starred Ram and Genelia and was one of the super hits films of 2008 in Telugu. The film is being remade in Tamil as 'Uthamaputhiran' with Dhanush and Genelia.

Asin Thottumkal looked as fresh in a radio channel's office. She was there to promote her film London Dreams and interact with listeners.

Asin is once again playing a south Indian girl in her second film in Hindi London Dreams, featuring Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan.

Asin in an interview has said : “ I play a South Indian girl, Priya, who is emotional at the same time strong willed and ambitious and she has two radically different sides to her. At home she’s a traditional girl clad in Indian outfits but the minute she’s out with friends, she’s a firebrand, and that shows in the way she dresses.”

The music of the film by Shankar-Ehassan-Loy is already a chartbuster. In the film which carries good reports Asin is also the bone of contention between Ajay and Salman, so is the pivot around which the film revolves.

A lot is riding on London Dreams releasing on October 31 for Asin, who needs her second film in Bollywood to click if she has to survive in Mumbai tinsel town.

Asin to undergo surgery today!

Pretty Asin is going in for an Endoscopic sinus surgery also called endoscopy or sinoscopy at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai today (Sep 21) morning.

A day before she was admitted to the hospital Asin told Sify.com: “ I had this irritating allergic cold with acute sinus infection and blocked nostrils. My doctor advised me to do this minor surgery to drain my infection and clear the sinus. Within two or three days, I will be back to normal, jumping around as usual”.

Endoscopic sinus surgery does not involve cutting through the skin, as it is performed entirely through the nostrils. Therefore, Asin will be going home in a couple of days and her parents are with her at the hospital.

Says Asin’s dad, Joseph Thottumkal: “She can go home after three days and it’s nothing serious. She had completed all her ad commitments and I am insisting that she takes two weeks rest at home before she bucks up for London Dreams promotion starting in first week of October.”

The Bollywood beauty Asin, though she is busy with offers from Bollywood, has equally more work here in Kollywood too. She is here in Chennai to shoot for the 19th Step. The film is produced by Walt Disney Pictures and is directed by Bharat Bala. The film also casts a Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano and Asin plays his love interest. To get more comfortable with her role, Asin is working hard and practicing Kalaripayattu, a martial arts form that originated in Kerala.

Asin’s photo shoot for 19th Step in Chennai

The groundwork for 19 Steps, which is produced jointly by Bharath Bala and Walt Disney Productions, was set rolling a few months ago. This film’s photo session is expected to take place in Chennai in a few days. As per our sources, Asin will fly down to Chennai to take part in it with the Japanese star Tadanobu Asano.

Incidentally, 19 Steps has Kamal Haasan in the lead role. The film is directed by Bharath Bala. 19 Steps is a period film based on a Japanese warrior. The story was penned by MT Vasudevan Nair.

The Bollywood beauty Asin who is very much a Bollywood top heroine has shifted base from Kerala and from the year 2007, she has been on the lookout for a suitable place so that she can stay independently. Now, her search seems to have ended as per the latest news.

According to reports, Asin has now moved out of the Lokhandwala Apartments where her parents stay and her new home is in Green Acres which is close by. Interestingly, even the hefty beauty Tabu and eternal beauty Sridevi also live in the same premises.

Incidentally, Tabu is said to be designing her own interiors and she wants it to be done as per her thoughts. The pretty girl is said to be quite happy about it and it was due to her busy shootings and travel schedules that she could not get her home since long. Wonder what happened to the buzz about Salman gifting her new home.

The 2 southern belles Asin & Genelia, who were just another regional stars, today have become a Big Brands! Nobody in their wildest of dreams must have imagined that Asin & Genelia would attain overnight stardom in Bollywood by giving a single hit GHAJINI and JAANE TU YA JAANE NA respectively.

Interestingly both the girls gained the astounding success working with Aamir Khan. While JAANE TU was made under Aamir Khan Productions than GHAJINI starred Aamir. Asin - A saviour

Asin seems to have been inspired by her character in Ghajini. That is probably why she didn't care for her own life to save a little boy from a speeding car.

The actress who was inside her car near Infinity Mall, Andheri at the time of the incident jumped out from the vehicle when she noticed a poor boy unaware of a car rushing towards him.

Asin had clearly no time to contemplate her moves and after jumping out of her car, she jumped across the barrier, lifted the child but lost her balance and fell on the ground. The child landed on Asin and
was saved.

According to a source, Asin suffered severe bruises on her arm and wrist. "Her arms were wrapped in bandages for several days and Asin had to wear full sleeve costumes for her photo shoots", added the source.

Asin learning martial arts for 19th Step

After the stupendous success of Ghajini, Asin is busy learning the ancient form of martial art Kalaripayattu. The Ghajini starlet has signed an international project opposite Kamal Hassan called 19th Step. This is her second film with him after Dasavatharam. The film also stars Japanse star Tadanobu Asano in the lead.

Sources close to Asin revealed, "Asin will be portraying the role of a warrior princess and hence has been trained in the ancient art. A local instructor trains her everyday. This film will be her biggest project till date, as the budget of the film is 50 million US dollars and it is based on the theme of the origin of Martial Arts in Kerala. Asin and Kamal Hassan play important role in safeguarding these Martial Arts of Kerala while Japanese actor Asano plays a blood thirsty Samurai Kenji seeking to conquer the ancient Indian Martial Arts forms of Kalaripayattu (ancestor of Karate). He learns the tough 18 steps and masters the 19th step from an Indian guru played by Kamal Hassan while Asin will play a local princess."

Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial art form which originated in Kerala, India, was taken across the Himalayas by the Buddhist monk Bodhi Dharma to China, giving birth to Chinese Kung Fu. Kalaripayattu in its current form is 1,500 years old.

The movie will be directed by Bharath Bala and produced by Bharath Bala Productions and Walt Disney. It will be released in three languages: English, Japanese and Tamil. The shooting of the film will begin in the last week of June 2009 after Kamal Hassan wraps up Marmayogi and once Asin masters the art. It will be shot in Kerala.

Meanwhile Asin is busy wrapping up her shoot of Vipul Shah's London Dreams with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan before beginning her shoot on 19th Step.
